Chicken-apple Bake

1 chicken,broiler-fryer,pieces
1 pepper
1 onion,medium,thinly sliced
1/2 cup sherry,dry
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 apples,granny smith,wedged
1 cup swiss cheese,shredded
1 salt
3 tablespoon butter or margarine
1 garlic clove,minced
1 teaspoon parsley,chopped
1/4 teaspoon thyme,dried leaf
1/2 cup cream,heavy
1. Season chicken liberally with salt and pepper. 2. Saute chicken in butter in a large skillet; brown on both sides. 3. Add onion and garlic; saute 3 minutes. 4. Add sherry, parsley, salt and thyme; cover and simmer 20 minutes. 5. Add apples; simmer 10 minutes longer, or until chicken is tender. 6. Arrange chicken and apples in a shallow casserole. 7. Add cream to skillet; bring to a gentle boil; stirring to dissolve meat paticles. 8. Pour cream sauce over chicken; sprinkle with Swiss cheese. 9. Place under preheated broiler until cheese is melted and bubbly; serve immediately.
